Password protection puts a password screen in front of your project, so only the people you share it with can see what's inside. It works with anything you upload — a website, a PDF, a presentation, a portfolio.

Available on the Solo plan and above.

Add a password when you upload

1. Go to your dashboard and drag your file or zip folder onto the upload area.
2. Open the Access Gate dropdown.
3. Choose Password protected, then type the password you want to use.
4. Under Settings just below, you can also switch on:

• Hide from search engines — stops your link being indexed by Google
• Enable comments — lets visitors leave comments on your work

5. Click Publish.

Add a password to a project that's already live

You don't need to re-upload anything.

1. On your dashboard, click the Update icon next to the project.
2. Select Customize project.
3. Open Access settings and choose Password Protect.
4. Set your password and click Publish.

Change or remove the password later

Same route: Update → Customize project → Access settings.

From there you can change the password, switch over to email capture, or make the project public again. Your changes take effect as soon as you click Publish, and your link stays exactly the same either way.

My site isn't asking for a password

Once someone has entered the password on a device, their browser remembers them and won't ask again. Your site is still hidden from anyone who hasn't entered it.
To check it's working properly, open your link in a private or incognito window, or on a different device.
