# How to password protect a PDF

You don't need Acrobat or any other software. Upload the PDF, set a password, and share the link — anyone opening it sees a password screen first.

| Available on Solo and above.

1. Go to [tiiny.host](https://tiiny.host) and log in.
2. Drag your PDF onto the upload area.
3. Choose a link name — this becomes your web address.
4. Open the **Access Gate** dropdown and choose **Password protected**.
5. Type the password you want to use.
6. Click **Publish**.

Share the link and the password separately, ideally by different means, so one intercepted message doesn't give away both.

### Updating the PDF later

Click **Update** and upload the new version. Your link, QR code and password all stay the same.
