# How to change your plan

The same three steps work for upgrading and downgrading.

1. Click the **plan-name button** in the header — it shows your current plan.

2. Click **Change plan** in the account pop-up.

3. Select your new plan and confirm.

### When does it take effect?

An upgrade takes effect straight away. A downgrade takes effect at your next billing date, so you keep your current plan's features until then. 

#### If you're on a free trial

Changing to a lower plan during a trial ends the trial and starts billing your new plan straight away.
