# How to build and host your website for free

You can build and host a website on the free plan without any coding experience. There are two routes. Pick whichever suits you.

### Route 1: Describe it and let us build it

[Create with AI](https://helpdesk.tiiny.host/en/article/create-with-ai-generate-a-project-in-minutes-p5me6z/) makes a first draft of your site from a description. You can edit it and publish it from the same place. It's available on every plan, including free.

### Route 2: Start from a free template

Free resources like HTML5 UP and Unsplash are good starting points.

1. Find a free template. Download a free HTML template from a site like HTML5 UP.
2. Edit the template.
   1. Open it in a code editor like VS Code.
   2. Change the text, images and colours to match your preferences.
   3. Use your browser's developer tools to try out styles, then update the CSS file.
3. Host your website.
   1. Zip the entire folder containing your edited website files.
   2. Upload the zip file to Tiiny Host.
   3. Choose a link name for your website.
   4. Publish.

#### Keep an eye on the size

On the free plan, each project can be up to 3 MB. Templates with lots of images are often bigger than that.

If yours is over the limit, it will publish as a temporary preview that comes down after an hour. Compress your images, or see [__Why is my project showing as a preview?__](https://helpdesk.tiiny.host/en/article/why-is-my-project-showing-as-a-preview-rwsqvq/).
