# Does Tiiny Host support .htaccess files?

No. An .htaccess file won't do anything on Tiiny Host.

.htaccess is a configuration file for Apache web servers — it handles redirects, access rules and URL rewriting. We don't run Apache; we serve static files directly, so there's nothing to read the file.

Uploading one won't break anything. It simply has no effect.

### What people usually want it for, and what to do instead

* **Redirects** — Create a redirect page instead. See [How to create a redirect link](https://helpdesk.tiiny.host/en/article/how-to-create-a-redirect-link-10mbtk3/).
* **Password protection** — Built in, no config file needed. Solo plan and above. See [How to password protect your project](https://helpdesk.tiiny.host/en/article/how-to-password-protect-your-project-1kascwp/).
* **Removing .html from URLs** — Done with folder structure. See [How can I remove the ".html" ending from my link?](https://helpdesk.tiiny.host/en/article/how-can-i-remove-the-html-ending-from-my-link-1kie5c1/)
* **Custom error pages** — Supported on the Solo plan and above, set from your project settings rather than a config file.
